The Wonder of the World
An estimated 32 million single American women traveled at least once in the last year for business or pleasure, and a third of them made tracks five times or more, according to the Travel Industry Association.
Worldwide travel has seen a steady increase of single women traveling during the past two decades. We have developed a stronger sense of adventure, and we are looking to explore the world. What began as a "Girl's Trip" (the girl’s weekend trip), has evolved into a desire, for many, to explore the far reaches of the world. We love international trips to fancy and exotic destinations.
We have worked hard to gain our independence, we work hard at our careers, motherhood, and philanthropic. causes We have our own money and we aren't afraid to spend it on ourselves. Travel is a necessity, part of our ongoing education, not a luxury. We are forever young, wanting to have fun, and while our personal and professional resume reflect our years of hard work, we always take time to enjoy life.
Travel agents report an increase in single female travelers. What are our destinations? While spa resorts, yoga retreats and wellness centers top the list, there is an increasing demand for more active and educational vacations, from bicycling trips, cooking classes in Italy or France, surfing and painting. We view travel as a means to further our education and involvement with the planet and people.
Mother and daughter trips have become the new right of passage, and studies have found that traveling with female family members can be a bonding and relaxing experience.
Stories of women connecting with other women on vacation (some even make it an annual tradition) and how they take that positive energy back into the real world.
In our travel section we will keep you informed on tips and recommendations, which will also include books or links to other travel websites. We hope to receive your stories on your travel experiences for our ongoing travel journal, and we would love to share them on our site. These are the threads of the fabric that make up who we are...please feel free to share...
