Single Homeowner Buying Habits

What Are Singles Looking for in Homes?

  • 52 percent of single, first-time homeowners purchased a home in the suburbs, according to a recent Coldwell Banker real Estate Survey
  • 53 percent of buyers said owning in their area was more cost-effective than renting
  • 35 percent of single buyers said being more independent drove them into the market
  • 68 percent of single homeowners purchased a home that was below their price range, rather than the most expensive home they could afford
  • Modernized home updates and appliances, and outdoor spaces were rated as the most desirable features in a home
  • 13 percent of single buyers own their home jointly with another person, almost half (49 percent) of which is their parents
  • 55 percent of the new homeowners have a less than 30-minute commute to their place of work.
  • More single women (27 percent) said that the number of bedrooms was the most desirable feature in a home than did men (18 percent)
  • More single men (38 percent) than single women (29 percent) would consider purchasing a short sale or foreclosure.

The Temptations of Travel

Ladies, Is Travel on Your Bucket List?

The loading zone was crowded with taxis, dust and exhaust fumes. I was alone, my shipmate who was sick, mostly tired, decided to stay on board. I was determined to get off the ship because cruises often give me claustrophobia.  I was intent on finding a taxi driver to take me on an Athens adventure. Georgia O’Keefe, my idol, once said, “I have been terrified all my life, but I never let it get in the way of doing what I wanted.”  I was terrified alone then did it anyway.

Fairfield CT Parade

The Memorial Day Parade—doesn’t get more hometown and American than Fairfield CT’s annual time honored event! Something for everyone, from ball players to girl scouts, from beloved vets to marching bands. On a crystal blue Monday morning, Fairfield shined like the down-to-earth, unpretentious town it really is.

A celebratory atmosphere filled the air, as parade watchers witnessed their war heroes pass by and marching bands play old American standards. It’s hard to not get a tad misty-eyed when one truly stops and takes in the whole scene. Fairfield CT evokes the naivety of a time gone by while maintaining a healthy reality to the modern day. On Memorial Day, the entire town embraces its moment in the sun and unites together on one of the nation’s proudest of holidays.

We in Fairfield CT are blessed to be given the opportunity to delight and or participate in a meaningful American tradition. Horray for the red, white and blue!
